One of a kind

Who doesn’t want to give that perfect one of a kind gift, that perfect heirloom piece that will be passed down for generations? I started crocheting again a few years ago when I wanted to do just that. Our young neighbors across the street were expecting and they were keeping the sex of the baby a surprise to them and everyone else. I wanted to make something that could be for a boy or a girl. I found a cute layette sweater which I made white with a multicolored trim. I also created a hat and booties to go with it. From that point on my renewed love of crochet had begun.

I also branched out into new patterns and yarns. I tried to include the forgotten little boy when it comes to sweaters. Let me tell you, it isn’t easy to find nice yarn for babies that isn’t feminine. I created a hoodie pattern that is comfy and cozy with those little boys in mind. Recently, a button-up cardigan with matching hat made from a boucle (boo-clay: yarn with loops producing a rough, nubby appearance) yarn has been very popular.

I also decided to take on a baptismal gown. This is one of my prized pieces. It took balls and balls of crochet thread and many, many hours to complete but worth the work.  I also created a heavier yarn version and also a romper for a little boy.

Also- Sweaters aren't just for babies anymore.  This was meant to be a sweater but my memory of her actual size was a little off... it turned out to be a perfect scarf though.
 Tipsy Sausage loves her scarf!

Here is Tipsy in her new sweater that actually fits :)

That is one cute sausage dog <3
